WPI Strategy announces partnership with ChamberlainWalker to launch Built Environment Unit

WPI Strategy, has teamed up with specialist planning and housing economic consultancy ChamberlainWalker to launch a new Built Environment Unit.

The Unit will provide a full suite of services to existing and new clients in the housing and infrastructure sectors including:

  • Specialist political advocacy and corporate communications services

  • Economic impact assessments and analysis (e.g. for planning applications)

  • Economic analysis and project appraisal for business cases and funding bids

  • Quantifying economic and social value of infrastructure investments

  • Housing market forecasts

The unit will be run by Tom Wilson, a former Labour Party parliamentary candidate who is an Executive Member of the Labour YIMBY group and an Advisory Board member of PricedOut. The research and analysis functions will be led by former senior MHCLG economists, Chris Walker and Paul Chamberlain.

To coincide with its launch, the Built Environment Unit has released a new report which identifies 12 locations that could be suitable for the development of New Towns. The analysis, which has fed directly into the New Towns Taskforce, assesses the possible locations against a range of economic, infrastructure and housing needs tests, as well as polling to determine public support for new housing schemes in local areas.

Sean Worth, Co-founder of WPI Strategy said:

“We are delighted to announce this partnership. Combining WPIs policy, research and campaigning capabilities with CWE's housing and planning analytical function will provide a full-service capability for existing and new clients in the built environment sector.”

Chris Walker, Co-founder of ChamberlainWalker Economics said:

“We have worked closely with WPI over many years and are thrilled to be creating a more formal venture. From measuring the value of developments to supporting organisations in their planning applications, we believe the new Unit will provide the best integrated political and economic service offer in the market.”
